Our farmhouse kitchen is the centre of our home - figuratively and literally. I spend a lot of time in this space experimenting with ingredients - adapting old recipes to gluten-free alternatives, putting a personal twist on a classic recipe, or applying many hours of cookbook reading to creations that will end up becoming new family favourites. Many of the ingredients used in some of my favourite dishes are grown in our seasonal garden or are sourced locally when available, and they are always gluten-free. It has taken several years to transition my kitchen to a completely safe environment for my family - several of whom are Celiac. But the transition was not difficult, it just took research, patience and practice. Most of the recipes you will find on my site are gluten-free with only a few still kicking around from “a past life”. I am happy to share all of them with you and hope that you enjoy preparing these dishes as much as I do.

Originally inspired by Epicurious, I have been developing this recipe for over several year. My goal? To create a Gluten-free pizza crust that rivals a traditional wood-fired flatbread with its crunchy exterior and chewy center. Success! This recipe takes practice so don’t be overwhelmed – it is definitely worth the effort! I swear by…

I rarely bake. But once in a while I get a hankering for something sweet and only a freshly baked  treat will satisfy the craving. Having a gluten-free pantry forces a bit of digging for recipes that deliver results that are worth the effort. This recipe delivers! Taken from a new recipe book, Flavor…

Melting Moments

Melting Moments

I make this recipe with the kids every Christmas – it is always a hit. These simple to make cookies can be prepared with or without frosting but we prefer a rich buttery dollop on top. They literally melt in your mouth. In recent years I have substituted regular all-purpose flour with a gluten-free alternative 1 […]

Simple Tomato Sauce

Simple Tomato Sauce

Don’t overcomplicate it. A versatile tomato sauce is as simple to make as a pot of Kraft Dinner but with a bigger, healthier bang for your buck. It helps if you are able to source low-cost tomatoes. This year our tomato yield was tremendous. In fact, we are struggling to keep up with the volume of […]

My Pad Thai

My Pad Thai

This fabulous recipe is a guaranteed hit for dinner parties with friends, and quiet dinners for two alike. What I love about this recipe is that not only is it completely scrumptious, it can be easily adjusted to accommodate a number of dietary requirements. It is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free and with a simple substitution of oyster mushrooms for chicken and […]
